Family Pathways is a 501©3 nonprofit dedicated to working with communities to develop supportive, caring relationships to help people meet their basic needs through the provision of Hunger Relief Services, The Refuge Network (Domestic Abuse Program), Aging Services, Youth Services and Thrift Stores.  

 

Shelter Advocates (Relief Staff), Cambridge 

The Refuge Network

On Call (hours flexible, vary dependent on shelter need) 

Must pick up 3 shifts each month if required. Ability to respond w/short notice requests for additional shifts.         

Wages $13.00-$15.00/hour depending on experience

 

Key responsibilities:

The Refuge Network is a program whose mission is to provide supportive services for people who are currently involved or have been in an abusive relationship. The (on call) Shelter Advocates will provide direct service and systems advocacy to battered women and their families.  Duties will include crisis intervention, personal and legal advocacy, client intakes and exit interviews, case management, data collection and entry, and other duties as assigned.

 

Required skills and abilities:

 

·  Strong interpersonal and communication skills

·  Handle confidential client and administrative information

·  Ability to prioritize, be self-directed and handle variety of tasks

·  Works well independently or with others

 

Qualifications:

 

·  High school diploma or GED, advanced degree preferred

·  Two years’ experience in working with victims of domestic violence or related field

·  Valid driver’s license, car insurance and clean driving record

·  Ability to pass criminal background check and drug screening
