Did you know the food pyramid is now a plate?

This plate takes the guesswork out of what to eat and is an easy ‘how-to’ for making good food choices. The new symbol for healthy eating replaces the food pyramid and is divided into the basic food groups: fruits, vegetables, grains, protein, and a small side of dairy. The design is very straightforward and a reminder to focus on eating a well-balanced diet.

This program provides eligible children in participating schools with a bag of food containing breakfast items, lunches, two snacks, fruit and vegetables. The meals help kids get through the weekend and back to the free breakfast and lunch program at school on Monday. Family Pathways works with partner churches and parent volunteer groups to pack and distribute the bags. The goal of this school year program is to help promote school attendance, academic performance, and the improved feelings of children’s self-worth.
